Completed September 9, 2013, this is the year’s third experiment with big felting. A Large-spotted Genet undulated through the weeds at Pete’s Pond, my favorite webcam, and I had to have one – after I hit Google Images (via “african spotted cat”) to find out what it was. Posing in the studio didn’t suit him at all, so in most of the images, he’s playing in the gardens and tot lot at Lake Merritt.

He’s about a third to half-grown, with a little baby roundness left in his face and a sligtly less ferrety profile than an adult. His tail really is in proportion, too; it’s supposed to be half again longer than his body. The magnets in his paws and tummy allow him to perch happily on a shoulder or hat.
